I have this carb on a Wisconsin ABN. I need the main needle and throttle shaft packing. Is it still possible to purchase these?

Is this about the same carb as on a Allis Chalmes WC? If so, I believe you can still get them at Stiner Tractor Parts. Roger.

I'm about to start working on an ABN too.

Mine has a Marvel sch......   VH14. If that helps any.

I did a google search, and there a few places that list

parts available.

Yes you can buy some new parts for these.

These are the same carbs used on the Bolens Ridemaster and I been lucky to pick up 2 NOS.

There was a VH12 and VH14.

If you are needing the part, it would need to be NOS.  I could track one down for you if you need it, since out of all the guys I deal with for parts at least one will have the pieces.

You lucky dog...  how do you find all the good deals?

If you can put your finger right on it, I would appreciate it. You know the reputation of the folks you order from.

I got the rebuild kit for this Marvel Schebler model VH14 carb. This carb is from a Wisc. ABN engine. The engine always started poorly and I think the carb is a little iffy.

The main reason I got the kit was because the packing was bad on the main needle. Along with that I felt that the throttle shaft was a little loose. When I looked up a parts diagram they showed a schematic for a VH92 which superseded it. The 92 shows there are dust cap/packing on each end of the throttle shaft. When I opened up my VH14, it doesn't have that. It has rolled thin brass shims on each end and they don't fit too good, pretty loose. I have to think the carb would run better with less clearance at the shaft bore.

So . . . I'm wondering if I should countersink the bores for the rubber dust caps, or if I should try to make some new brass tubes that fit better.

Can you post pics of these areas in question?

I couldn't wait so I decided to make new brass bushings. The original bushings were made out of .002 brass shim. I turned new ones out of brass and made them .020 thick. They're just thin enough to allow the shaft to turn unimpeded.

Sounds like a solid repair to me.  I've done this before on carbs & always worked fine.

Do you happen to remember the part number for the kit?  I am having a heck of a time figuring out which kit to order for my VH14 off an ABN.  Did it come with a replacement throttle shaft?
