Try to help here. Not a Wheel Horse Guy but you need to look at the ignition type here.
Does it supply B+ to the system or does it ground the trigger signal?

If you post the actual model number from the Serial number tag, I might be able to find a manual or at least a wiring digram to help with your question.

It sounds like Ducky was right. That "extra" tab must be the one that grounds out the trigger signal. In your tractor, it would be the wire that grounds the coil, or as wheel horse calls it, the ignition module and stops the spark. Also, I would need the model number for the tractor, not the engine. I guess I should have been more specific about that.

I uploaded the operators manual to the Wheel Horse manuals section. It has a pretty good section on the electrical system and a breakdown of the key switch wires and their functions. I hope that this helps you out. -Steve
