DAC....thanks!  Sure helps hearing from those with personal experience.  Being she went into the hospital just the day before the surgery, with no plans, just going to the ER, I had no chance to visit before Angela's surgery.  She also asked that nobody come due to her feeling so bad.  My other sister will be scheduling whatever she will need done, so I should get to see her before whatever procedure they go with.

I've never been an overnight patient myself, but Teresa has a few times, and I know she never truly felt like company, other than needing myself or someone in the family there to help her.

Our thoughts are with you and your family, Daniel. My mil. had colon cancer way back in the early 1970s, so we know what your family is going through. Take it one day at a time and things will work out.

Visited my sister Angela tonight.  She is doing pretty well, considering they removed 9 feet of her small intestine, and several inches of her colon.  She's not got the results yet of the biopsy, so that is her (& all our) worst worry at this point.  All is working as things should & looks great.  Of course she is not feeling so good, but as expected.  She has her sense of humor back, which is a great sign in itself.  She must have plenty of morphine from that pump though, as she mentioned hoping to go home tomorrow, but that isn't gonna happen I'm sure.  I'd say she'll be a few more days yet.

My sister Angela who just had the surgery got bad news today.  It was cancerous, and it is at stage 3.  There are only 4 stages.  Chemo & radiation is next.  Tough road ahead.   My other sister has seen the specialist, and tests are back.  Fortunately she is only at stage 1 cancer.  Not sure what action they will take with her, but likely surgery to remove all affected areas.  Her's is likely going to be easily isolated & removed.  Nothing has spread past the immediate areas of the cancer.

I told her when we visited her in the hospital yesterday that she had "tractor nuts" all over the world pulling/praying for her.  She DID appreciate it & said to say thank you!    BTW, my other sister's name is Mary Lois.  We've all always called her by both first & middle name together.

There is still plenty of hope for Angela to come back from this, it will be a battle but she has it in her to fight it, I'm sure. I have an online friend on a truck forum that we are members of that has stage 4 colon cancer and is in a complete remission. He was diagnosed about 3-1/2 years ago and is working on his hotrods and truck, and running his business too!

It sounds like Mary Lois was diagnosed early and will come back just fine too!

They never told me a "stage" just that I had 7 malignant lyphnodes out of 11 thay removed. I did not do chemo or radiation.

Even though they may seem to have pretty good presence of mind post-surgury, don't expect your sisters to remember much while on the morphine. I still get surprised when told about things that went on during that time and even to a certain extent while on the "codone" type painkillers after the morphine.

We are pullin' for all of you.

Later---DAC
