My sister Angela who just had the surgery got bad news today. It was cancerous, and it is at stage 3. There are only 4 stages. Chemo & radiation is next. Tough road ahead. My other sister has seen the specialist, and tests are back. Fortunately she is only at stage 1 cancer. Not sure what action they will take with her, but likely surgery to remove all affected areas. Her's is likely going to be easily isolated & removed. Nothing has spread past the immediate areas of the cancer.
There is still plenty of hope for Angela to come back from this, it will be a battle but she has it in her to fight it, I'm sure. I have an online friend on a truck forum that we are members of that has stage 4 colon cancer and is in a complete remission. He was diagnosed about 3-1/2 years ago and is working on his hotrods and truck, and running his business too!
It sounds like Mary Lois was diagnosed early and will come back just fine too!
They never told me a "stage" just that I had 7 malignant lyphnodes out of 11 thay removed. I did not do chemo or radiation.
Even though they may seem to have pretty good presence of mind post-surgury, don't expect your sisters to remember much while on the morphine. I still get surprised when told about things that went on during that time and even to a certain extent while on the "codone" type painkillers after the morphine.
We are pullin' for all of you.
