My Father in Law is gravely ill and may pass on any day now. He is 84 and has Alzheimers. He refuses to eat anything and has slowly been loosing weight and getting weaker for some time now. They have him on Morphine to keep him comfortable and calm, which is a blessing. We would appreciate any prayers offered for Albert as he approaches the end of his time with us. He was a gentle, kind, generous and polite man and I will truly miss him!

Brian, he and family will be in my prayers. I lost my dad last year and he had dementia so I understand how everyone feels. As in my dads case, he will be going to a better place where there is no more pain and suffering.

Albert will be in my prayers.

John 14:1-4 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

I heard a phrase once that I think is nice. "He slipped quietly into God's presence."

Brian, I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL.  Times like this are always tough but add in something like Alzheimers and it really can be a taxing time.  I hope everyone involved will be able to find calm and peace during this hard time.  I will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

You ALL have my prayers Brian.  I know it's got to be the hardest thing on earth to watch, but I know that you know very well that his suffering leads to a better place, one we all should look forward to.

That doesn't stop the heart from aching though, so my prayers go to ALL of the family & friends.

We are praying here in Virginia.  Like Daniel said, it is really hard to watch someone die with Alzheimer's and never be able to hear from them one more time.  I've been there.

Brian, so sorry to hear this! But, keep in mind the good times you had while he was whole. Those memories help with the healing as he passes on. May you all be blessed!

Thanks Everyone! We just got back from visiting with Albert. He's pretty much sleeping all the time now and they have increased the morphine because of the pain. Can't say enough about the fine people who work at the facility he is in. They are sitting with him  when no family of friends are able to be there. This has been hard for them as well since he was such a likeable fellow.

Brian, I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. My Mom is in a nursing home suffering from early dementia. I had a call earlier today and recognized the number as the nursing home. It was my Mom asking for a ride home from the hospital, which is where she thinks she is at. Once again, I will keep you and your family in our prayers.
