Today, I turned my attention to my big jake. I'd been rather dreading taking the exhaust manifold off! Broken bolts, rounded nuts! Ect. Ect.! But, it went really well! Nothing broke, and every thing went well. I learned some things and bought some parts to fix the problems I found. I don't know if I found my main problem of it smoking. But, what I found definitely needed to be fixed, i am going to test the fuel pump to see if it is leaking gas into the crank. But, it is really sloppy, so I'm hoping that that is my biggest problem.
It had a broken exhaust manifold. And an oil leak on that side. May still be blow by on the rings. Or, a bad valve sleeve?

Just out of curiosity, has this engine sat a lot? Could be stuck rings if so. Could be some carbon build up if it is smoking a lot.

I don't know how long it sat. But, I did remove the heads and de-carb them. Pistons didn't seem too sloppy. But, I'm not ruling out a ring job! Just thinking something else, as it didn't smoke when I got it.
