Is there a list of what model decks interchange with each other. I have a H16 tube frame and need a deck, thanks, Mike

Generally 90% of  tube frame decks can be used on all models but the catch is having the right mounting hardware to go with the deck as the hardware normally stays with the tractor.

Thanks, I was wondering about that. It may be better to buy a whole tractor with a bad engine

Yep, and I can  go two ways with a tractor with a bad engine, locate a engine for it, or salvage it for parts and save myself a ton of money. The only problem with the salvage angle is most of the tractors I acquire usually only need paint, decals, tires, and a battery. I bought 14 complete sets of tires in the last eighteen months as well as 12 batteries, and 5 decal sets.

The H-16 can use:

38" cut deck models #18415, # 18416, #18417 & #18418.    ....The #18415 & #18416 require #1722454 & #1722455 links.

....The #18417 requires a #18425 Hitch Kit and same links above.

....The #18418 needs no additional parts.

42" cut deck models #18420, #18421, #18422 & #18423.       ....The #18420 & #18421 require #1722454 & #1722455 links.

....The #18422 requires a #18425 Hitch Kit and same links above.

....The #18423 needs no additional parts.

As already said, the correct brackets may or may not already be on your tractor.

Thanks, Bruce, so my guess is the 184118 and 18423 were specifically made for late model medium tube frames like the H14/16, and G14/16?

Well, not actually. ....However those two models of mowers were probably (?) introduced in the years that the H&G14/16 tractors were made.

The #18418 can be used on any tube-frame from the 800 on up (higher hp).

The #18418 can be used on any tube-frame from the 1000 on up (higher hp).

Bolens made several changes to the type of mounting hardware over the tube-frame years.  ....Each change was supposedly an "improvement."

I have the 4 pins for the deck hangers on my tractor, that's it. I'm looking for a good deck, but every one I see is missing hanger parts, has a problem with the gear box, or is rusted through. There is a brand new shell on ebay for 299.00 and if I got a good complete deck at the right price, or along with another tractor I think it would be a good investment.
