it seems to me most bike had dodgie  electrics of that era.  All the British and European bikes were plagued with electrical problems and of course Harley had their own issues.  The only ones that didn't were the Japanese bikes which is why they became popular.

Yeah, it defiantly needs new points and condenser. It also needs a new coil.

How many older bikes have you seen with the headlight bucket standing open and wires hanging out.  :D

Theres no wires sticking out of the head light bucket. The head light is on. It needs to be re-wired, but it isn't that bad.
