I am a huge massey guy myself but,  I was wondering what are the differences between a mf 14 and 16.

I know it is a fairly minor detail, but didn't the 16's have some sort of extended footboard wrapping around the front of the frame?  Might have to look at a few pics (Oh, the inhumanity!!)

My bad.  After being forced to search through the registry for a few moments, I found a 14 and a 16 and both had the extended footboards.

MF14's had that also, but I think only the 76 models?  My 76 MF14 I used to own had them, but they didn't wrap around, just extended further up each side..

The 16s had rubber motor mounts, 14s didn't, but like Olcowhand says that's about it.

Well I didn't know that Doug!  So did the 16's use the "A" oil pan like the 1650?  Tractordata doesn't state engine model.

From the ones I've seen they both have the same pans, flat, looks like the 14engine  will fit the 16 and visa versa, just need to use the engine mounting bracket for the tractor on which ever motor you choose.

Ive searched AGCO parts books and the only differences are engine related, they show all MF14s with the fender extensions but as you said the early ones didn't have them. The one MF14 I got didn't have them.???

The 14 has the exhaust exiting through the side of the grill where the 16 exits around the back of it, this is because the 16s engine with the rubber mounts shakes so much that if the exhaust exited through the side of the grill it would be always hitting it.

14 is a more rigid mount and can go through the side without ever hitting the grill.

Again engine related differences, tractor is the same.

Both very nice tractors and we don't see a lot of them here. They go for good money when they do come up for sale.

75 and 76 14's and 16's had it. Those were the only years they made the 16's. 14's made 74 and earlier did not have the extentions.

I think you guys covered all the differences,

-Engine...K341(16hp) has larger air filter.

-Mf16 had rubber engine mounts.

-Mf14 exhaust went through the grill side. So, different grill.

-Fender extensions added to Mf14, when Mf16 was produced in 75' and 76'.

One of the big things that they have in common is that, if you have one, you'll want

the other too. But I guess, that's standard, for any GT. :D

You hit the nail on the head.  I got my 16 for "free".  I liked it so much I drove from St. Louis to Maryland to get a 14 with a snow plow and blower.  Then we drove to Branson Mo. to get a tiller and 3 point.
