After my recent discussions on this site fate has stepped in.  I found a JD GT262 in amazing condition for $400 cdn, it's a 3 hour drive to get it but it's a nice machine, he said he replaced a couple switches so I may have to spend a bit to get it back to original but I've very excited to see it.  48" cut with that 17hp kawasaki engine I think it'll last me ages.  I'll post some pics once I pick it up.  Now I just need the manuals!

Those Kawasaki engines are pretty decent motors.  As long as you take care of it, it will last you ages.

Always happy when a fellow GTTalk member finds a tractor he likes. I have a number of manuals for JD garden tractors and attachments, but the only one I have for the GT262 is the MC519 Material Collection Utility Cart Operator's Manual. There are manuals out there on the Internet, some even say they are free. Good luck and looking forward to the pictures.

Congrats on the tractor! That sounds like a nice price for a JD garden tractor.

Pictures will come soon, my wife wants me in bed asap so no more forums lol, ended up getting it for $375 with the service manual and a new belt, couple things need to be fixed, two small spots on the deck were fixed with fibreglass.  Runs like a clock though and mows amazing.  The hood has a couple cracks that were fixed with fibreglass from the inside.  I can't even buy a good push mower for that kind of money.  I think it was a steal, this older gentleman got it and fixed everything up, he likes to tinker, he did some nice repairs.  Well worth the 3hr drive.
