The bare shell new is over $800.  The used gearboxes fetch $250 and higher.   Driveshaft used...$150+.  That price isn't all that high IF it's in great shape.  Still painfully expensive if you had to have one.

But then I have to add, I bought my entire John Deere 430 complete with deck (with brand new deck shell) for a whopping $1,200, so bargains can be found if patient, lucky, and especially when member twostep lets you know where they are!  :D

If you can find one for less then $800.00, you can buy it and resell it and make some decent money, these 60" decks always bring a lot of money. It's the Green and Yellow Paint !!

As with all vintage garden tractors, or it appears to me, the parts are always worth more than the whole.

Gee, I just wonder why the deck is all that is left. Is that the best part of the unit???

All I'll say is that yellow paint Deere uses sure must be expensive.  Otherwise, why charge so much?
