Work friend has an engine that he claims says Sears Roebuck on it. Think old enough to NOT be a Tecumseh.  Here's some numbers from a tag on it.

                                       Model 500.20437

                                       Series 28

He thought it might have said Palco or similar down low on cover, but wasn't sure on that.

The 500 should be the manufacturer's ID as in most of Sears numbers. Is there a list of manufacturers and ID's for Sears anywhere?  The engine has points, no coil outside the plug wire goes under flywheel.  He is supposed to get pictures for me to see.  Anyone?

The engine was made by Briggs & Stratton.
