We are needing any information on our Ariens S-8 Hydrostatic garden tractor made between 1974-1978, the Ariens company does not have any info on these tractors anymore...but I sent them pictures of it and they think the model number is 929002. We can't figure out how to get the deck on to cut the grass, need to know what fuel it takes, there is a fuel leak of some sort and the battery won't keep a charge. Anyone able to help that would be great.

I have been searching for you, not a lot of info out there on these.

I see it is a LT and not a GT, and should be a 8 hp Briggs vertical shaft engine.

If you Google (or Bing) Ariens 929002 there are some PDF manuals out there. I just don't know the sites and didn't want to post a link. So I took a picture of the Deck mount page in the owners manual.

The other issues could be any number of things. Fuel leak could be a gummed up carb from sitting for a long time, a bad fuel line etc...

The Battery not holding a charge could be a Old (Bad) battery, bad connections or a stator problem ect..

This engine would run on reg unleaded gas. and the oil for the engine ( not mixed in gas) would be any SAE 30 oil.

If you have pictures or could explain anything you have checked already it would help us determine what else may be causing a problem.

Also If you could get the model, serial and type numbers off the Briggs engine, that would help too.

Welcome to GTTalk. Looks like info. is scarce for your mower. As Chris suggested above, try posting some pictures or asking specific questions about each problem on the Ariens forum.

Ok, so I figured out how to do the profile pic...how do I post pics for you guys to see? I'm a rookie at this. I had bought the tractor for my husband...the man I bought it off of was over an hour late dropping it off. I had to leave to get my kids from school, so I wasn't able to ask him anything about the tractor and I have lost his phone number. So I've been searching for info all over the internet.

I do not believe this is the same deck as the picture you sent me.It may be off some help anyway.

Sorry about the quality of the pages .I could not get the top shut on the copier as it is a thick book

About your fuel leak issue it is hard to say what is wrong.where is it coming from? The carb, gas line, fuel filter. How old is the battery. It probably

would be the first thing to check.Take it to a place that sells batteries and have them check it for you.

Good luck

The label that says model number and serial number are blank. Just the line where the numbers should be.
