I was wondering of someone could tell me about a 1954? Bolens Versa-matic walk behind tractor.  B&S engine we believe. We inherited this plus a bunch of implements (plow, snow blade, cultivator,  reel mower , snow blower ....couple other parts too...)

She turns no problem and I am guessing just needs some fresh fuel and a plug.... Great little "Chug, chug"  sound like she's trying to fire.

Needs a new tire...(one rotted in the side and the tube pops out) and the exhaust has rusted off. Otherwise looks pretty good for almost 60 years old. Still all original paint as far as I can tell. except the wheels...father in law used to love to "paint" his stuff.......just the wheels I think.....

I don't have much of a garden, not to justify this, and was wondering if these have any value??

I'm thinking of selling her, but really don't know what I am selling.

Would pictures help??

Thanks for the help

We all love pictures, so that would help.

These old motors like you have take points and a condenser to make the spark.  That will be where your problem is if it has no spark.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to GTT. Relax and look around. There should be some pictures of tractors like yours in the Gallery section. There are many people here that have them. Good Luck, Rick

Here she is ....London-20130704-00133.jpg

I will have to climb on the truck to get the rest of the info :)

Dr Bolens I notice she looks real close to the one you have as your member pic.

Its definitely a Versa-Matic

Year would be determined by the actual model/Serial#

The ID plate is in the center of the frame where the back hitch is located, I can see its there in the pic...

That is a family heirloom and should be treasured. Keep it stored inside. Good Luck, Rick

Here is the serial number plate.  Any details would be awesome.  I have to sell this and all the attachments so would love to know what I am selling.

Sadly Rick, we have been paying for a 10x15 storage unit for 3 years now full of heirlooms.  We have to downsize. This is really cool but regrettably big bulky have we just do not have the room.
