Even with modern valves & seats, lead additives help prevent valve problems.

Yeah, thats what I figured.

I've always run my older engines on lead additive. Better to be safe than sorry

Gas just hit $2.99 here in Wisconsin. In my vehicles I add a bottle of iso propel alchol every other month or so in the summer and much more often in the winter and I haven't had any fuel problems yet. For my tractors I add Seafoam to each 5 gallon can of gas when I buy it. I haven't had any carb issues yet so knock on wood it must be working so far.

I have been using what they call up here "Recreational Gas" for most of a year. It is advertised as being 91 octane and alcohol free. Have seen less spark plug fouling. Costs about the same as premium 10% methanol now at about $3.90 a gallon. Only bad thing is the station does not have a card reader on this pump so you have to deal with the cash register ringer uppers and carry some pennies since it is hard to stop on even dollars with the numbers moving so quickly,.
