It may depend completely on the tire.

Some run undersized slightly, etc.  I can tell you this: the 25-10-12 tires I put on the SS12 is as big as I would want to go hgt wise.  I was able to flex the fenders enough to get winter chains on there too, but the tread is about 1/2 gone on these tires anyways.  I would say that 26" tires would require relocation of the fenders.

Here is the thread on the 25" tires

If you mount them on 13" wide rims they will fit , but it will be tight! Also ... I sure hope you have a different tranny or a solid axle in it, or things are gonna go crunch !!

I put them on Bertha, a GTV16. But I raised the fender pan an 1" for clearance. Wheels are about 10" wide now.

I agree with Kenny. You have to raise the fender pan in order for them to fit. There's two sears that pull with the 26-12-12 tires so that's what they have to do to make them fit.

I had a pair of New 26x12x12 Carlise Tru Power tires stuffed under my old SS16.I used a pair of rims with a 2" offset I think they were off of a cub cadet. They still rubbed the buldge where the gas tank is in the inside and the top was really really close even after bending the fenders up and away a bit.

Boy ol boy did it look mean though lol.

To bad they rubbed so much though.I never thought of moving the fenders  :wallbanging:   That is a great idea.I love the shape of the old round fender GTs.
