I'm sure there are a lot of Bolens guys who will want it. It would help if you can get him to send you some photos to is condition.

There should be another Number after the A

Like a 4 or 5. Nothing comes up as a "B6a" on its own.

These were the "Gardener" series Bolens

I lied....

Had to dig out the early walkbehind literature :D

There is a B6A that apparently was made from 1941-1946

Since the only differences that I know of between the B6A4, B6A5, B6A5S, and B6A20 were the wheels & tires, I'm wondering if only  B6A is stamped into the nameplate?

Perhaps some owners of Gardeners can tell us what is stamped in their nameplates.

The engine was Wisconsin ABN 2.5 x 2.75 the full numbers were Type B6A5501 Serial G-35570. Found a advert manual for Gardener,s the middle size one,Farmer the large one and Power Ho the smallest. All chain drive and clutch steering, some one said the clutches were wood cones ! Too bad no attachments. Cheers and Thanks Mike About 1949 to 1956

That sounds right!  .....Wisconsin ABN's were produced 1949-1955.
