Owner's manual is here http://www.hammerwal...actor/L0709180/
but they wont say anything about the rear end. Do you know yet who made the tranny?

I think it's a Hydro Gear tranny. If so, get the model number and go looking. There are a few HG manuals here. The one in my GT6000 was a HG and after an oil/filter change, it was a different machine.

JD Daniels...I had a tranny that would not engage "Reverse"...Simply sprayed some WD-40 on the linkage and it has worked ever since. Before you invest a lot of time...you might spray some penetrant & lubricant on the linkage and just see if that works. Good luck & keep us posted.

Linkages can be bent too.  My GT5000 will get weird after I forget to pick up my foot before yanking "back" on the lever.  The neutral centering causes a bend in the flat steel that is the lever and I have to "tweak"it back into straight.

Yeah I had downloaded the manual and printed it out for him. He told me when I took it to him that mom had cleaned the bookcase and found the manual he forgot he got when e bought it. But it got him to thinking about getting it done!
