Sorry, Daniel... we were supposed to get together last night to finalize things, but he ended up working late. We'll exchange cash and handshakes this evening... if the Good Lord's willing and the creeks don't rise...

Regards,

Smitty

Your going to love That 420!! My brother has had one for about 8 yrs now and the things he does with it amaze me.

I like my 318, and much as I try to fight it, When you compare it to the 400 series, the Green Eyed Monster keeps popping up? And I SO want a loader!

I'm thinking with the loader and 3 point(knowing what it takes to buy them as add-ons) your buying the tractor for about $500-$700(that's a steal)!!.

Smitty is a good guy and deserves it. I just hope he can find some place to hide it so his neighbors don't complain.

He can hide the green John right in his yard!  Yeah, that's his answer to his neighbors complaining.....switch to all John Deere equipment so they can't see them!  :rolling:

Yeah, I really could have used it when planting the garden in the "Upper 40" (plot that friends let us use). Some other people in the area raise sheep and poultry, and we can get all the manure we want.  My friend did disc a load in for me, but I would have liked a little more (which is about the only time I'd deliberately ask for more crap!!!) LOL...

And, the machine is running... I can use it right away... I can actually use it to move heavy things around and out of my yard as I do my ongoing cleanup!!

I certainly agree!! was just pointing out what good buy it is. That set up would probably bring $3,000 or more around here.

Well, I did a little bit of subterfuge...  In addition to putting my machines for sale in a local online classifieds (a lot like CL, but better) I made up a sign on orange paper and put it up in the front yard, then I parked the CC125, the White 1650 (which I hadn't considered selling at first), and the little MF7 out on the lawn... that way the neighbors, (and any officer from Code Enforecement) would see that I was working to sell my stuff, etc.

Then I sold the CC125 and the White the next week, so no there's only the MF-7 (complete, but needs engine repair to run).  They've seen the 317, but haven't seen the 420, yet.  The 420 will go to the "Upper 40" garden spot to keep the grass mowed and to do other required chores.

I'll get the 317 running (it starts when fuel is dripped into the carb) as soon as I can rebuild the carb, and then they'll see my mowing with it, etc. and might just mistake it for the 420 when I bring it home.... :D

I was a little concerned about the loader since the PO took a Johnson from a JD140?? and widened it.  He did do a good job on the welds, etc., but still...

I researched on the JD 44 loader that was built for the 420/430, and discovered that they are very rare, and those that have them want to keep them, so this will work fine.

Well, I finally got pics of the JD317 downloaded from my phone--the side panels are in the truck, and I have a new yellow JD seat at home:

Couple of nice rides there US, can't wait to see it in action with the loader.

Let's see, you've sold three and bought three. I think you have this addiction licked... :rolling:
