I saw a front spindle for a Bolens 850,1000 tube frame with a hole drilled through it for a roll pin, my H16 has a roll pin to hold the wheel on as well, but the manual says it should be a locking collar, any idea why????

Does it look like it is original? Or was a PO a self taught Mechanical engineer? :D

It looks original, but it cant be. I dont believe the guy drilled them, either this is a early H16 that had them or someone replaces the spindles with older model ones

To the best of my knowledge they never has roll pins as stock equipment in any tubeframe.

They were supposed to have a locking collar with a set screw type bolt.

On ebay they have a set from prayters parts listed as Bolens 850 tube frame spindles that use roll pins

I checked the manuals, couldn't find either, but Prayters says this model Bolens 850 is a 191-01 and the manual here is for a 191-02
