Evening All,

I had to remove my PTO on the 1220 because the small Torrington bearing next to the pulley failed, this I think is a poor design on a otherwise great PTO there is a large roller bearing at the front for the Snowcaster but the belt load and mower deck is supported by a bearing which use,s the PTO shaft itself as a bearing surface.

This means if the bearing fails like mine it scores the shaft bad.I cleaned up the shaft as best I could in my old Logan lathe then decided a trip to Princess Auto was in order where I bought 2 bronze plain bearings for 8 bucks.

They were 3/4 " inside for the shaft and 1 inch outside for the housing, better yet the bearing was longer and offered more support. I think the bronze will be better because it will tolerate the marks in the shaft better and if it goes bad it can,t harm the steel PTO shaft. And as a added plus it is longer.

Does anyone know the part number for the white plastic shield in front of the roller bearing ? I need one. Is the a parts break down available for the tube frame PTO { the 2 belt type} ? Thanks Mike

Never had a bearing fail in any of my PTO's.....

The Needle bearings are actually designed for higher speed applications and higer load's and supposedly are more durable than your standard ball bearing.

The Seal washer should be 1721590 off the top of my head.
