I just got a Bolens 1255 in my shop that a guy bought for $450.00. It came with a plow blade, snow blower attachment, and mower deck with it. I have never seen one before and the more I look at it, the more I like it. This thing is built like a tank!!! The engine and Transmission are in great shape, just needs a tune up. The more I look at it, the more I want one to restore. Even the attachments are built solid!!! I checked the local Craig’s list and was pleasantly surprised at the number of listings for Bolens tractors and attachments listed. Now I am really getting the fever!!! Here are some questions I have that I hope some of you more experienced Bolens fans might be able to help me with:

  • · Do all/most attachments made for tube frame models fit on all/most tube frame models?

  • · What is the most common model tube frame tractor that Bolens manufactured?
I am really excited about acquiring one for restoration and would appreciate any comments/suggestions you all may have about quirks or common problems I should watch out for when looking.

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to my project and conversing with you all!!!

First off welcome to GTtalk. Secondly you will have made Bolens1000 extremely happy LOL.

With that being said I do believe all attachments made for say the small tube frames are interchangeable. Whether the tractor has enough horsepower to run them is another debate. I wanna say the most common small tube frame would be the 1050 but don't quote me on it.

There are quite a few guys on here that are Bolens fanatics and I am sure they will be along in no time to help ya spend your money. :D

Welcome to the Forum and welcome to the wonderful world of Bolens Garden Tractors!

Your 1255 is more commonly known as a G-12
Yes, you are correct that there are still many of these Great tractors around. Bolens had over 2 dozen attachments for the tubeframe series. Ranging from a compost shredder to a posthole digger!
In my opinion the Bolens 1050 would be the most common tractor. Mainly because they were built for the most consecutive years out of all of them 1966-1969.
They seem to be everywhere.
We would love to see some pictures of your Bolens!!!
You will also find that most of the attachments and parts are interchangeable between models.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

:yelclap: Welcome to the group,
Good to see I'm tot the only one with a G12 now.lol
One thing I've gotta say is don't compare horsepower ratings on these old brutes to what gets put out today, it ain't the same.
Go get the manuals for what you have, and we're all eager to help.
And as DR. Bolens said...We want pics!!!
