Part no. AM38415 - Breather kit (valve cover plate with a reed valve)  about 20$ can. Go to jdparts.com and enter 317 in the model no. search. It looks like this is a replacement for some sort of pop up valve arrangement which was original equipment.

Well the rain stopped. i went out in hope it would fire up and light on fire.. well it started well. i had checked the oil it was over full.. Well.. I did three more laps as it was driving well. I decided to bring it up to the garage and check it out. Well i never realized how far up the dip stick the oil was. opps.. It's draining as i type this and i will fill it up properly. I will tell my ole man how much oil it holds. 

 

 

Ha.. look at all those Wells.. hahahaha deep subject..

I drained the oil.. the old guy put 3.9 liters in it. What was he thinking...

It might take me a year or two to replace a starter (shut it JS5020) but i have never over filled a engine with oil.. causes so many problems...

 

 

I guess we all do stupid things once in a while.. I just hope it hasn't hurt anything.. seems to be running good at this point..
