Nice job on the dash Jim. Better than original.

You sure did have some nasty pitting to deal with there on the frame.

I'm glad you decided to go with the Flint Metallic Grey, rather than

that Hammerite. That stuff is meant for patio furniture. and as far

as I know only that JD company marketed patio furniture tractors. :D

Yeah Will that one area is my thorn in my side for rust on this project. The items I filled to get rid of the pitting worked out well. I'm going to pick up some spot filler in a few days & fill in some pin holes. I'm thinking about leaving some of the pitting in minor not so noticeable areas. I don't want to take away all the character. I have noticed looking at some other restore projects they leave some of the pitting. Here is a couple of the pieces I sanded today, they turned out well. Some of the spots you see on the rear of the frame are the bolt holes.

Sorry Gabriel for the slow to answer. I did manage to get my tranny & rear end up off the floor on a work bench. I started to dismantle it a few days ago. I need to get a shaft repair sleeve for the out put shaft coming out of the hydro pump. They are many places that have these. I would like to find one at one of my local auto parts stores but I'll have to go there to find one, going online they want to know what vehicle I have  :D I have to figure out how long I need also. I have been looking at AG's lately trying to decide on the stock size of 23x8.50x12 or the 23x10.50x12 or the extreme of 26x12x12.

Oh good, you're back at it Jim. Looking forward to the updates.

I'm 99% sure, that 26" won't fit under the fenders.

I like the look of the 10.5 wide on them.

I agree Will, I want to go with the 10.5 width. I just went out & did a mock up & some measuring  so it's the 23x10.5x12 for sure. I'll save the big money for the MTD 990 it has a lot more fender room  :D I got a set of wheels & tires off of CL's awhile back for wanting just the wheels. This way I can have a set of AG's & a set of Turfs for the Massey. I'm not into ATV tires on a GT but I got them for $20.

I feel the same way about atv tires. I keep a set around on rims, just

as temps, if I'm fixing or painting the others.

Somewhere, I've got pics of my 12 with 10.5s. I'll look.

Just reread the whole thread and Good Stuff, your getting it done. Soon you'll be driving it around.

I did 1 tractor with the Hammered finish, the colour is close but if I had to do it again I'd use the proper colour paint.

Yeah Doug I'm glad I took Will's & a few others advice on not using the Hammerite. Thanks

Thanks for the update! Besides the output shaft, did you find anything else wrong with your hydro or trans.?

I maybe able to take those ATV tires off yours hands if you don't want them depending on the size.
