I emailed the guy and offered him $100.

His reply

I asked for serious people to respond. Don't make me laugh it's appraised at $2500.  $850 is the set price. This isn't a new one. It's an antique built to last. Get for real.

SO I emailed him again

I am very serious. I restore tractors and I know exactly what that is.

It is a light duty lawn tractor that has AG tires on it. Unrestored and filthy as it is it might be worth $200 on a appraisal. Having your Uncle Jimmy say it is worth $2500 is not an appraisal.

I have 4 of those tractors sitting behind my barn right now.

You can get mad if you like, but the dented body panels, ill fitting hood, rusted mower deck, and duct taped seat do not ad up to $850.

We will see what he says.

Beware those two words " rare and antique". Because most of the time they are not.

I have a couple of Wheel Horse GT's with cigarette lighters....Didn't realize that adds hundreds and hundreds of dollars to the valve.

I agree, Whenever you see those words they usually are way over priced or are simply just everyday run of the mill machines.

Unfortunately "Rare and Antique" no longer have much meaning.

Almost every ad you see on craigslist or ebay has those words in it....

If it's "appraised" at $2500 why would he offer to sell it for only $850 ??
