Is there a rattle can paint that acts like automobile paint? Meaning gas wont hurt it.

I'm not aware of any automotive type paint in a rattle can, not saying there couldn't be. I've sold a few guys these http://www.preval.com/what-is-preval before. Kinda like a rattle can that you can put your automotive paint that has all the hardeners and activators in it to get a harder more durable finish..

You can buy spray cans of paint intended for use on cars from companies like dupli color. I've used it before and it seems to be better quality than your average spray bomb. I can't say if it's as good as a true high end automotive paint. Does anyone know if there is a clear coat that would protect normal spray paint from harsh chemicals? That would be a good solution, as you wouldn't need to keep a stock of different colours.

Our local Napa mixes auto paint (Enamel).. They will put it in a rattle can if you want them to , It is slightly expensive but I have used it to touch up rocker panels or small repair jobs. Also the local farm store sells Duplicolor as well as the big box stores sell it in the auto section in limited colors.

Dupli-color makes a decent clear.

I actually picked up a can of automotive rustolium. 2$ more a can test regular rustolium. They didn't give any big cans of dupli-color. I'll test this and see how it does.

Most engine paint in spray bombs is advertised as being chemical resistant.
VHT makes a lot of specialty spray paints and coatings that seem to be a little better quality than Krylon and Rustoleum. I'm sure they make something that is gas resistant.

DUPLI-COLOR ENGINE ENAMEL PAINT IS SOMEWHAT RESISTENT TO GAS IF CLEANED RIGHT AWAY. I also find dupli-color engine enamel rattle can paint to be the smoothest laying paint in a spray bomb.

Ditto, on the Spray max 2k Rapid Cut in Clear. Great clear coat in an aerosol and hold up better than the duplicolor clear.
