Finally had a chance to make up some New Maple deck rollers for the Estate Keeper Reel attachment.

Had some firewood laying around which I turned on the lathe then soaked the rollers in oil for a few days.

The reel cuts great and I was making nice stripes in the lawn when the whole tractor just buckled when I was on it! :wtf:

I quickly killed the motor and ran back to get tools as the cables and wiring were close to being pulled apart. Once I got the linkages unhooked I was able to cart the 2 halves back to the garage for repair.

Looks like the pivot yoke was welded before

The center pivot yoke's were the weak links on the Estate keepers. This makes 3 out of  4 that have either been broken when I bought them or welded previously.

Looks like I know what I'll be doing this weekend :wallbanging:

Wow, bet that was a shock!

Yeah it felt weird!

And as luck would have it, it happened in the back, furthest away from the garage :hitting_self_roller:

That is a bummer Brian. Hope it doesn't take long to get it fixed back up. I am sure it was quite a surprise when it went. Nice to hear you got the reel mower working good.

Sorry to hear about the failure.

Have you figured out a way to make it indestructible?

That's a bit of bad luck Brian.  I hope you can make a good repair and get that cool reel mower back in service.

Glad to hear the reel mower is cutting grass again.  But as for the EK10 I think it thought you didn't have anything better to do this weekend :D   Hope it not to bad to fix.

That must have been a shocker! Looks like a bit of strengthening is in order! There is a lot of stress on that joint!

Nice job on the rollers, Brian !

Did you make those at home, or at school?

Did you make the other ones, also?

Yeah, I did those at the shop. Would be nice to find a lathe for home someday :D

I've got another set of 3 that are alot nicer than these ones to put on another Reel Mower I may be getting soon :poke:

Aww heck, looks like a "two for" to me.  Two EK's for the price of one!  I've seen your challenges before, this is a walk in the park for ya! :rocker2:
