I just had a question about the 12 horsepower K model engines. Is there any difference at all between K301 and a K301A? or are they the same?

The "A" designates the shallow oil pan. Because of this pan, the bottom of the block is also different where the ears on bottom of the block are the motor mounts instead of the oil pan bolting to the engine mounts . For example, the Massey 1650 has an engine designated K341AQS, the a designating the special oil pan, the Q designates "quietline series", and the S designates electric start. Without the A, it should have the std oil pan which also has the mounting feet on the bottom of the oil pan.
