I picked up this Craftsman cart last Fall for a project I had in mind:

HPIM2518 (Custom).JPG

Decided not to do the project & instead use the cart, so I'm doing some "customizing" on it!  Starting with wider wheels & tires, swinging tailgate with JD hardware & stiffeners around the bed rails & tailgate;

Going to paint it with Rustoleum "Extreme Yellow"  to match my JD 70 I, as it is my primary towing tractor!

Can't wait to see this one as I picked one of those carts up just a month or so ago and it sounds like you

are going to deal with some of the shortcomings I've noticed.

Rainy today (3-1/4" so far), so I've been in the shop this morning!  Put the tailgate together:  1/8" x 1" angle around the sides & bottom, 1" thin wall square tubing under the top lip.  Spring latch from Harbor Freight

HPIM2764 (640x478).jpg

John Deere swinging tailgate brackets:

HPIM2765 (640x478).jpg

I'll be replacing the "pan head" bolts (right) in the floor with "truss heads" for less resistance when shoveling:

Plan to paint the rims this afternoon.  ~~  Lowell

Since it's been raining so much, I've gotten a few things done on the cart.  Added 2-1/8" x 1-1/2" angles to the underside of the tongue for more strength & made a thicker yoke:

HPIM2776 (640x478).jpg

I've coated the inside of the bed with Rustoleum "truck bed coating" (spray cans).

HPIM2777 (640x478).jpg

My order of Rustoleum "Extreme Yellow" spray cans came today, so I can paint it shortly!  ~~ Lowell
