Dad's F250 is getting worn, tranny reverse almost un-useable. Heading in an hour to see if we can win the bidding on a 2003 F250 4WD Superduty...std cab. Old truck has a 460 gas, this one is a smaller 5.4 Triton. Drove it yesterday & feels like it'll do on power. After all, my 351 w/auto trans will pull anything we need, just not as fast on hills as that 460. Hear of some occasional head problems with the Triton, but can't talk Dad into a diesel, but then when I looked up diesel prices....we can't afford one!

Yep diesel truck prices are really high. Would be nice if they were more affordable. I wish ya luck on getting the new truck. The 5.4 triton wasn't too bad a motor. The 4.6 I had in my 2007 F150 I didn't like though.

I must say,I like my F-250 with the 7.3 diesel.I get about 18-20 mpg on the highway.

I think the thing I like the most about diesels is the fuel mileage you get while being loaded compared to a gas powered truck. I can do about 17 - 18mpg with my I6 powered F150 but that is about it empty. I don't even want to know what it is when loaded.

Just got back from an auction myself. I left a bid with a friend for an Allis 716H but I'm sure he won't be delivering it this afternoon for the price I want to pay. Got me a leaf blower though! Now my neighbor can have my leaves.

Got the truck, total including the 7% buyer's premium was $8,025.00. Not bad at all. It's in perfect condition & trailer/gooseneck ready, toolbox, bed rail covers. Have to transfer before bringing it home. Turns out I've spoken with the man who owned it. He passed away (heart attack) at 46yrs old. Sad...left a wife & son. He milked cows & I serve as ADA (American Dairy Association) director for his district, so spoken with him a few times. His wife & friends all said this truck was his baby, and she was tickled someone she knows will own it, especially being we were also dairymen. Likely bring her home Monday. My camera doesn't download pics, so no pics till she's home.

Are there sweeter sounds than "Going Once, Going Twice... Sold" when you're the high bidder & you really did want it?

Congrats Dan. What're you going to name her?

Reckon she'll have no name. Really it's Dad's truck, but I'll drive it too at times. I have my own F250HD, and it's a good truck. No name for her either....just "truck". lol

:yelclap::yelclap: Nice that you got it at a good price to.I tried to pick up a truck at auction last week but it went two high for my blood. It was a 96 f250 4x4 with a plow and it brought close to what you paid for the new ride.So it think you got a heck of a deal.
