Neither the JD or the Craftsman look too bad. Heck, I've dragged 'em home in that kind of shape before.

Lawn tractors like those don't upset me seeing them scrapped. No historic value to me at all. Maybe a part or 2 could be salvaged. The hay roller looks better than the one just like it that we sold a while back. We got $1,000.00 for it.

MOWER-LESS: Lawnmower repairman David Banham had about 20 mowers stolen from his property and despite tracking them down to a scrapyard and reporting it to police, he???s got only eight back.

Relevant offers

A lawnmower repairman from Mangere has lost hundreds of dollars worth of machinery - twice.
David Banham had about 20 lawnwmowers stolen from his Vine St home but when police told him to leave them where he found them, they disappeared again.
He reported the theft more than two months ago but within days he had found his missing mowers at the Cash For Scrap yard in Mangere's Tidal Rd.
Police told him they would investigate but asked him to leave the mowers at the yard.
Mr Banham did so, only to find on his return a week later that half of the mowers - the best ones -were gone.
He took home the eight mowers that were left but still has no idea where the others went.
He can't say how much money he stands to lose but has already had to fork out $700 to the owner of one missing mower.
Mr Banham says he was "horrified" when he went back to Cash For Scrap and realised someone had taken the mowers.
"How would you feel if you'd been told to leave your property there by the police and you thought it was in safekeeping but when you went back only the rubbish was left?"
Police are still working on identifying who sold the lawnmowers to the scrapyard.
They will be inspecting the company's records and interviewing the staff working at the time and senior sergeant Denise Traill says the lawnmowers left at the yard have been returned to Mr Banham.
"Not all the lawnmowers that were taken have been found but we are fairly certain any at Cash For Scrap have been returned."
Mr Banham says he saw at least six of his mowers, which he never got back, on top of a large container at the yard.
"The police were told the mowers I picked up were all there was," he says. "But they took the best and the other stuff was thrown in as rubbish with old gearboxes and the like.
"It was a disgusting way of dealing with property going through police procedures and then they had the cheek to tell me all the mowers were long gone and that they'd be overseas by now," he says.
Police say inquiries will include reconciling the number of mowers stolen with those found at the scrapyard and returned.
But Mr Banham says it's "very unprofessional" of the police to let his property be taken, and that two months later he still hasn't been told what has happened.
Mr Banham thinks he's done enough police work tracking down the mowers in the first place and can't understand why it's taken so long for the police to act, especially when scrapyards must collect the details of anyone providing scrap.

He says staff gave police a description of the sellers and a vehicle registration number.
The scrapyard also has surveillance cameras in the office where payments take place.
Cash for Scrap is now in liquidation.
