what is the matter with your Throttle Shaft?

just loose or wobles in the carb?

if it is loose or wobles in the carb - it is a easy fix.  I have fixed over 10 carbs.

this is how I do it

first remove the 2 brass screws from the throttle shaft

removing the 2 screws only make a 1/4 turn then back off 1/8 turn until the screw comes out.

out of the 10+ carbs I have only broken 2 screws

if you do brake a screw in the throttle shaft - just file it down so you can remove the throttle shaft from the carb

then I use my demal tool and cut a small cut across the screw to just fix small screw driver into the slot - then you can remove the broken screw

I go to Ace Hardware and get 2 bonze washers - 1/4" id and 7/16" od and 2 stainless machine screws to fit the throttle shaft and 2 stainless lock washers

clean the carb

I put a very little gasket sealer in the hole before I put the washer in - help seal them

with a 1/4" bolt  over 1" long I put the washers on the bolt and put the 1/4" bolt into the throttle shaft hole and tap lightly until the washers are level with the top of the carb

clean off any gasket sealer

now you can put in the throttle shaft in the carb and put the butterfly on with the 2 screws with the lock washers

I use the blue Locktite on the 2 screws - helps a lot

you do not a screw on top of the piston - bad news if it does

My first one I did was over 15 years ago and the screws are still there and tight

see the following link http://gardentractor...om/carbfuel.htm

scroll down to the Bronze Throttle Shaft Bushing

for more info about it

I hope this helps you

good luck

If you have the number of the carb you can get a shaft rebuild kit for it from kohler.
