Anyone out there have a camshaft for an 8 horse Briggs vertical just laying around collecting dust? The engine is model 190702 but I believe any from the 190000 series will work, possibly the 7hp 170000 series as well. I'm rebuilding one to wedge into my JD 70 and the dang cam journal is worn. In 13 years of teaching small engines I've never had a bad cam and here's one now on my own engine. Too bad I recycled 2 buckets full of cams last year because "I haven't seen a bad one yet!"

I looked up the part number and it appears to be 211689 if that helps any. It also appears to be the same one that's in the horizontal shaft engines.

I know we have a spare Briggs but I don't know the size, it is a horizontal. If I remember I will take a look this weekend when I am in the garage.
