The Kohler M18 in my Gravely 18-H (rebadged Ariens GT 18) calls for Champ RV15YC plugs gapped to .025". Discovered they have been replaced with a wide gap RV15YC4 plug apparently required by Big Brother to meet CA emissions standards. The new plug calls for a .042 - .048 gap. Should I re-gap the RV15YC4's to .025? Thanks.

Does the Kohler service manual give any info. on this issue. You should be able to down load the manual from the Kohler site if you don't have it already.

No, I have the Service Manual. The "4" plug is a fairly recent change. I am going to go with a RV17YC plug which I can get locally. In fact, some references specify the 17 heat range for M18 and I have read that Kohler made this change after the original Service Manual was published.

Edit: I just looked at the downloaded Owner's and Service Manual from the Kohler site. Both specify the RV17YC plug with a 0.35" gap. Guess my Service Manual is an earlier revision. Thanks a lot for the tip on the downloads.
