Scott, where do these fall in the list, Do you have it posted anywhere yet?

Bad news Brian.....these are the worst possible 2 numbers.  Totally worthless.  Just bring them to my place at plow time and I'll get them out of your way.  That's what friends are for ya know!  :smilewink:

Yeah Daniel, I can see that now. But I wouldn't want to trouble you with my scrap iron, so I'll just junk them down here. :poke:

I talked to with Bob Simmons back last weekend. He and I compared notes on serial numbers....just a little info to share that might interest you. Still need T-63 serial numbers, more JB numbers, more HD numbers, more V series numbers.......help me out!! Send me what you have if you have not already done it!! I am just getting started collecting them!!

T-63   earliest 1627  latest is 2034

D4-7  earliest 7164  latest is 7892

D4-10 earliest 8248 latest is 10295   ( I have a 10230 and 10295 both with Tecumseh- there was a letter that went out to the dealers stating that starting with serial number xxxxx all D4-10's would come with Tecumseh motors- will try to find the letter and post it)

D4-12 earliest 101 latest 283

HD12 earliest 5404 latest 6254  ( I question the 6254 could be right but want to try to find another 6000 serial numbered HD-12- I wonder if this is a 5254?)

JBI  2663

JBII 2838

JVII 2587

V3-6  earliest 6003 latest 6038   (only have these two serial numbers

In a letter dated July 21, 1969, it states that all D4-10 tractors beginning with 10152 will be equipped with a Tecumseh 10hp motor.
It also states that beginning with serial #10216 all D4-10 tractors will be less the rear pto. It will be an option and the part number for the kit is S4954, list price will be $25.00.

This would explain why my D4-12 doesn't have a rear PTO, it would have been produced after this date. At least I have one that I can now it one from.. :D

I just picked up a D4-7. It has the serial #7477 and Selma plate.  It appears complete and original.  I will dig deeper and get more ID numbers from it in a week or so.  Dang these are the coolest looking little machines.

I just got the numbers off of my D4-7's engine.  I am a bit confused.  It is aged and painted what looks to be the same original and untouched color as the tractor.  However, it is a S8-d with a serial number of 5958056.  When I plug this number into the Wisconsin search page, it comes back as being produced around 1980.  Did they even make a S8-d that recently? My tractor was Selma 7477.  My best guess is that somebody put a replacement engine on it and got as close as they could to original.

I would re check the engine number to make sure you got them right and also didn't miss anything. Good luck.

I am with brian - check the numbers and if you can post a few pictures of your tractor. They are 40 plus year old tractors so anything is possible.

We have also seen tractors with serial plates and hood stenciled model numbers not matching....we have been able to verify that these tractors were original.

Glad to have you on the forum!
