My wife has a 2007 Ford Taurus. We need to reset the door keypad to the factory setting. Does anyone know how to do this. The dealer want $40 to do this. We have the factory code but it doesn't work. Please help if you can.

When you say factory code, do you mean the one off the sticker on the rh side trunk hinge arm?

Another possible code location:

The code from the owners wallet card. We looked for the sticker on trunk arm but did not see one. The owners manual says the factory code should work even if a personal code has been set but it does not work. I can lock door with keypad by hold 78 & 90 keys so keypad works.

If you have the wallet card and it's not working, then the module is malfunctioning or the card is the wrong one. I'm still digging for a alternate reset option.

Okay, we should check all the buttons individually.

Try pressing [7/8] + [9/0] at the same time. Do your doors lock?

Try pressing each button one at a time. Wait for the interior lights to go out, then try the next one. If any one pad doesn't turn on the interior lights, that pad is the culprit. If one of the buttons is malfunctioning, and your code uses that button, then we're up the proverbial creek without a key fob.

This keypad contains 8 wires, some of them run to the control module under the steering wheel. There could be a corrosion issue on one of them.

It's a sticker on the control module. On my truck (Sport Trac Explorer) its under the dash. My sisters Lincoln Navigator it's behind the brake pedal directly behind the fuse box. You can find 100 suggestions online but ONLY one of them is correct.

The best thing to do is locate your control module and look for a 5 digit number.

Might as well start surfing CL right now, never know when the tide could turn the other way.

It is possible the module was replaced at one point, but the original wallet card was kept.

I lost a few points last night forgot take medications before bed. Its amazing how difficult it is to gain points but very easy to loose points.

Back to the car. We bought the car in 2008 used rental car with 25k miles. Bought it at ford dealer. The dealer sales guy did not know door code so they did something and gave us the code on business card which we lost over the years. We never used the keypad until wife got locked out.

Thanks again
