Serial number is 5067  was made March 8th 1965.

I am looking for parts for the recoil pull start......you will not find this model in any of the Tecumseh model listings.....probably made for bush hog and since only a small number was made- did not keep a record??

I see several breakdowns but none really give me insight to what I need. Any help will be appreciated. I posted this info in the bush hog section.....but may get more help here in the garden tractor forum.

Also I was not able to use the pull start so I am having to jump start the motor each time.......so I pulled off the pull start to see what the issue was. Here are a few pictures....looks like I need a new cup.....but need some feedback if I am right......the recoil pulls freely and returns to position....it  just is not catching.

Problem is, I cannot find any parts available for this style starter. I believe you can switch to the newer style by installing this cup:

Tecumseh part #590417 and getting the later style recoil assembly Tecumseh part #590420A

I'm 99%+ sure that isn't the right style.  The one you need is more of a flat "Pawl" with a round end.  You are missing other parts as well.  In the long run, you'd be better off buying that complete recoil.

When I can't find a model number on the internet, I first reaction if to double check the number on the engine.  Are you certain you have read & written it down correctly?

Yes..I took a picture of the serial plate....its the right number.....I just think since possibly they were "made" for bush hog and it just did not make the list when it came to record keeping.....
