A friend of mine told me about a 48" blade that he can get for free that I could have but its it is just a blade nothing else and it's red .

My question is what would I have to have to mouunt it on my 314 ?

I know I would have to fabricate to blade itself  . I do have front hyd.

Sounds like it would be 100% fab job if all you have is just the blade. It would be hard for me to give ideas without seeing the blade.

I'm going along with that thinking. Pics of a 314 blade and how it attaches would help to see what you need to do to your blade.

The same mount was used on the the 120/140 and 300 series tractors which is the same mount as the flat fender 110/112/200 series.  I would think that it would not be terrible difficult to fab it up and include a mount for the hydraulic lift.  Pics of the freebee would also help.  BTW, the blades that fit the machines above are the Model 43 (110/112/200 series and adaptable to the 120/140/300) and the Model 48 which have hydraulic lift.

The 314 took a 54" blade I think. Since it is 42" wide a 48" blade would work but would work better if you inverted the wheels to the narrow position for a width of 38". Fabing up a hitch would be a lot of work but it could be done.  There is a picture of the blade and hitch here http://gardentractor...4 front blade although it's a top view. If you try searching the forum for JD 314 front blade you may come up with more pictures.

larryd:

I have the Parts Catalog for the "54 and 56 Front Blades" (both paper and PDF) and 3 different Operator's Manual's for the 54 blade (only paper). Two of the OMs say they are for the 120/140 and the other is for the 314 (and others). They have lots of views of the mounting brackets, etc. in them.

If they could help, let me know. I could send the Part's Catalog PDF now (2M), and hopefully get the others scaned in and send them to you later.

Harlan, I'd appreciate a copy of those as well if it's not too much trouble!

Thanks
