I have 3 tractors with oil filters in place of hyrdo filters ( all bought this way) . I hear there is a difference but is it significant enough to use the hydro or just use the oil filter? They say the micron size is different.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Tom

My understanding is this, engine oil filters usually have a bypass feature so oil is always getting to where it needs to be even if clogged, where as a hyd. doesn't and can plug up (no oil out) which will either slow or stop the hyd. from working, not something you would want on a engine.
