Was messing around with my 650 trying to get it running better and decided to put the other sleeve hitch I got on it. The problem or issue is that the lift rod hits the deck linkage when the rod is above the stub on the hitch part. I don't have the deck linkage on the 1050 so it was never an issue.

Which way is the "proper" way to have the rod above or below the stub on the hitch?

You need to remove the Deck Lift Bracket.....

So you would say the rod goes on the top side of the stub on the hitch?  When the rod is on the bottom side it clears everything just fine.
