STILL haven't gotten home :D

My poor old HP laptop/GPS started getting wonky, and shutting down for no good reason, so before we pulled out of the Ohio Turnpike service area, I used it for one last task...ordering it's replacement from Microcenter in Cleveland.

We didn't leave until almost 12:00 and when I got to Microcenter to pick up the new lappy, I decided to make sure that it worked before I left the store.  Took it over to the tech support and we plugged it in and powered it up.  It started through the initial setup, and then just froze.  Tried a second time and it froze up again.  Glad it did that in the store and not after I drove 50-60 miles back home.

It was a refurbed laptop, and the only one that they had.  I ended up getting a different and more $$ re-furbed one which worked.  In fact that's what I'm using now.  Screen is a bit smaller than the old HP, but that shouldn't pose too much of a problem,

Anyway, we spent so much time at Microcenter, that it was going to be dark by the time I got home, so we are spending yet another night in a Wally World parking lot.

Now I gotta go D/L MS Streets & Trips so I can us this rascal to navigate.

I used Streets and Trips for years on my laptop before the the smaller versions even came out on the market.Worked very well but it was not as user friendly as these dedicated GPS's.One thing I did not like about it was that it did not reroute.

I was using MS S&T 2010 on the now retired lappy and it would reroute OK.

Since, I'm using the new one now, I just installed the 'evaluation' version of MS S&T 2013.  If I like it I'll buy the registration number.

We also use a "Rand McNally Trip Maker RVND 5510 GPS".  It's designed for RV use, and you plug in your vehicle length, height, width, and GVWR.  Once it has that, it will avoid routing you to places where you will not 'fit' and avoid low overpasses and bridges that won't support you.

It's a VERY SLICK goodie.  It also has quick lookups for places that are very "RV Friendly" like Wal-Mart, Flying J, Pilot, etc.  If you want to find one, you just select the appropriate one, and it pulls up a list of the nearest ones.  Then you can add it to your route 'on the fly'.

We use MS S&T for basic route planning and 'gross navigation', and the RVND for fine navigation.  Also, if the two disagree, we use the RVND.

It was a reel mower attachment for the Bolens EK series:

I'll take pics and probably a vid when it's mounted and ready to go.

Looks like it fit in there rather well, OB. Hope it doesn't move around to much in your travels!
