I hauled home something green today.  No pics until I get it out of my pickup which is hiding in the shed with the doors closed.  Once its dark outside I will be able to unload it.  OH THE HUMANITY!!

Does it have a motor, pedals, or a hitch? He doesn't need another cart, if he gets any more he'll be able to use them as a fence.....

And just why not?    :tapping_fingers:   I only have an even dozen  ---   for now!    :rolling:

As for the green, it may not have been Gtractor's, but I have proof:

I had something green in the back of my truck a while back so I got a shovel and tossed it out in the field where the vultures ate it.

Well,  its not actually mine - but I'll throw up a couple of pics anyhow.  :rolling:

Our local tractor club is featuring Deere this year and they wanted to try a raffle to generate extra funds.  This is new ground for the club and the president wanted to start small.  He approached me asking if I had any Deere garden tractors that would make a good raffle tractor.

When I stopped laughing, he said "I should have known better! - so do you know any place where we could obtain one?"   :poke:

Last night was our monthly meeting and I got approval from the board to purchase a tractor to fix up for the raffle.   We discussed what would fit our needs and my idea was a 60 or 70 lawn tractor.  Those models are really gaining in popularity and might entice the young-uns to get them interested in old iron.  Hind sight is - since I had an idea of what was needed and knew where to look for one I also get to fix it up.  :wallbanging:   One of these days I'll learn to be quiet!

Today I went out to my favorite salvage yard - aka my dads place - and walked the rows and rows of garden tractors.   This is what i came up with.

The tractor is pretty tight, straight and unmolested.  I suppose the Tecumseh gave out before the rest of the machine recieved much wear.   It looks bad because it has been outside and it has sat for many years.  Did some buffing on it tonight and it cleans up really nice.  Needs an engine, front tires, seat and wiring.   It will get a quickie paintjob but not a full resto job.  Enjoy!!

P.S.  I couldn't wait until dark so I took back roads from dads place to mine.

Can't be seen with the green!   :smilewink:

Thanx guys!  I hope I can find a decent engine and just bolt it on.

Its too bad an otherwise great machine [the tractor itself] used the self-destruct-O Tecumseh engines.  The metal on the tractor is much thicker than it needed to be.  Simple and well built - not cheap-as-can-be-made like most of todays units.

Heck,  I might even buy some tickets for this thing.  :luvfirefox:

If you don't need the PTO, an 8 HP Briggs will fit without a lot of trimming!  Would make a good putter around/tow tractor that way.  ~~   Lowell
