Do ford hydrostatic drives go bad very often? Are they fairly heavy duty? Im looking at a ford lgt 120 openside. Dosent run, so i cant test the hydro out.

That would be an eaton 1100. I've got three ford / jacobsens. Anything can go bad if abused and neglected enough. But I wouldn't worry about the hydro too much. The engine is what I'd check out carefully. The oil pan is welded to the frame on that tractor!
