It might be a good buy, but......

Considering the fact that someone bought such a nice tractor, apparently not too long ago (looks pretty new), and let it get "rough" would make me wonder how well they took care of the minor, regular upkeep. I would bet not very well. Look it over good. If it runs and mows at all, I'd think $450 (or less) is reasonable. You could probably clean it up and make it a really nice tractor.

Any other thoughts??

I've been in correspondence with the owner by email and he said he inherited the tractor with some land he bought and now he is moving and no longer has a need for it. What do you think a good counter offer on the price would be?

Here is the email I received:

"Harry,
I'm not sure what size the motor is but it's a Kawasaki. I'm sure you
could get online and find more information about it. I'm not even sure
the year model of the mower. The mower was left with the house we bought
about 5 years ago as the owner's were retiring and he had no further use
for it. The rear tires are 26x12. It leaks a little oil out of the valve
cover on the right side the bushings on the deck that make contact with
the ground for a level cut are completely worn out. That was pretty much
the reason I have been using it for cutting the pasture and shooting lanes
on our deer lease for the last four years. It's been neglected since I've
been in veterinary school, but it still has a lot of life left in it. Let
me know if you have anymore questions.
Thanks,
Jeremy"

Well...I procrastinated (which I am reall good at) for too long and someone has already bought the MF 2920. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be this time.
