Since winter won't release it's death grip, I might as well tear into the mower deck for my diesel G152. I have no plans to use this as a mower unless the Jacobsen would happen to break down.

Overall, it's in decent shape. It turns, but awfully stiff. One half of the pto knuckle that attaches to the tractor is gummed up, and the blades all have resistance. The gearbox seems to be fine.

There is a patch welded to the front edge of the deck, I'll grind it off to see why it's there.

The blah-blah-blah decals are shot, the important ones and the tag are in good shape.

Looks like its in decent shape.

It may be something simple like a seized idler pulley causing the resistance.

I have to give Bolens credit for having the cutting line marked on their decks. I don't know why more manufacturers don't do that.

JD used to put a width of cut sticker on their decks.

Still looks pretty solid!  Tear into the spindles and find the problem..  Might be as easy as over-torqued blades?? :smilewink:

(Somebody else 'puddle-jump welds' like me!!

Underside of the deck, center, in the back are two metal tabs. Do they hold an anti-scalp roller? If so, what is it's diameter? The tabs are just over 5" apart. I'll turn down a piece of southern yellow pine if I know what size to make it.

Uh oh, work is halted. I'm out of beer! All that's in the fridge is bottled water! Says Coors Light on the label, tastes like soup made with Daniel's work boot.

I'm a bit confused. I'd read somewhere, you don't have a GT. But you obviously

do have a deck.

I guess, we all had to start somewhere.

I hope you can find the right machine for your deck, so you can test it. :smilewink:

I still think we should have a 'thanks for nothing' button.

The deck is fine underneath that patch. Included in the literature I got with the Bolens was a book for a Lambert vac system. So the white bracket on the deck was for that, and I think the metal was added to the deck to increase the suction.

I'll be throwing color on it tomorrow. For something I'll probably never use, I'm sure sticking a lot of time into this.
