Hello all. I just discovered this site and joined. My "new" toy is a Simplicity 5010. The Briggs 10hp vertical shaft engine was made in Jan 1975.

Here is a "before" shot.I cleaned the carb and replaced the missing float and bowl and it runs great.I have not been able to ride it yet. The front tires will not stay inflated so I will put tubes in them. I did try all the gears after I got it running and it pulled in all the gears so I think all is well there. I bought it for $30 at a local scrapyard. I bought a 728 that was missing a lot of parts for $20 to get a deck , but the deck is rustier than I thought so I'm still looking. I have my eye on another GT from the same yard. It is a Gilson model 52051A.

The front wheel and tire was lying near-by, but the rear is missing. There are several other GTs in the yard so I hope to find a rear wheel and tire that will work.Thanks.

Hi Thom, Thanks for joining us.  It the deck beyond repair?  I've saved a few decks that were pretty rusty.  I look forward to further posts on your tractors.
