Bolens charging system??

I dont think my 1220 is charging the battery. I have checked the wiring diagrams. all the wiring seems to be correct. What would be the best aproach in testing this charging system? :confuse:

Measure battery voltage when tractor is running, compare voltages at idle and full speed, if it goes up battery is getting charged.

Yes, that is probably the easiest way to tell.

Thanks ill try that this afternoon tried some of my automotive tools. Why didnt i think of something as simple as a multimeter:wallbanging:

ok well I'm pretty sure it is not charging now. So it is probably my voltage regulator(what a stupid place to put it by the way) anyone know how to test it for sure or even where i might find one?

Is that a Kohler K301 engine? If so, there is a service manual in the manuals section that has a detailed troubleshooting guide for the charging system on that engine. it's at the link below.

Is it a delco remy?
