My wife Lynn's computer got hacked today. Her email address file was erased and everybody we ever knew has gotten a message saying we are being held in a third world country for ransom. Send money!

I wonder if the business of identity theft and hacking will eventually make use of the computer impractical. There doesn't seem to be any way that the authorities can curb this.

I had heard one way to stop your email from being hacked is the first entry in the address book should be something like,,AAAA.com just make it a address that does not exist to you.

Does she use a web email account or a client email program?  Like outlook.
