What is the axle housing made of?  I've got one of the lil rings for the three point arm hookup is broken off and I'm wondering if I can get it welded.  It looks like cast iron to me just by looking at it but I can't be sure.

I think it is cast. Doubt you will get it welded back solid enough. Should be able to find another housing as there are a lot of these rear ends out there.

Do you happen to know what trans axle you have in that? I'm trying to find out what one it is but not having any luck yet ( I must be tired)

Ford & Massey right off the top of my head. It's a 2500 Peerless.

Check out the sponsors!

Very cool, will do. Im betting that there is a local with parts laying around. There are more backyard small engine mechanics around here than I can shake a stick at. I've got my eyes on a 3pt tiller that is attached to a tractor that's sitting in a row of trees. There's an old cub sitting by it. Maybe, just maybe he could use some spare change. :-)

Sounds like a plan. Be patient on the axle housing, one will show up!
