My wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a new laptop as an anniversary/birthday present. It's a 13" pro with the retina display and flash drive for storage. The display is awesome and with flash for storage it's really fast to boot up and runs cooler. It also has 7.5hrs battery life and a 2hr charge time. I'm getting used to the trackpad and it will take some getting used to. We are strictly using this as a portable workstation and plan to run one of the minis with parallel or virtual to have a windows XP option available. That way we can ditch the flakey pc we use for occasional Windows software use. Never had a laptop before and I must say it's nice to be able to sit back in the easy chair and surf GTTalk!

Brian, one of the best features of a laptop is that easy chair setting.  lol

Once you try it, you will always want a laptop.

I have never cared much for Mac, but my son loves them.  Good luck with yours.

Brian, Hope the new laptop works good and doesn't cause crazy things like upside down avatars and bugs that some are reporting.

The portability of a laptop is nice.  You will enjoy the Mac, no viruses!

That retina display is awesome. The resolution is incredible with HD or large photo files. I like Mac computers but the changeover can be grueling for someone who has used Windows based PC's since the original Windows version. For young folks it seems to be an easier transition.

There is a new Apple store here and the service was excellent. As we walked in we were approched by a manager who asked us how they could help and handed us off to a salesperson. There were dozens of salespeople there all wearing bright blue shirts. They don't work on commision and will spend as much time as necessary to answer your questions. When I looked at all the sales staff I doubt it if any of them were over 25. The guy we dealt with did a great job of answering all our questions and pointing us towards more resources available to us for business applications. This level of service is in stark contrast to the commisioned sales people you find at the chain stores like Best Buys and Future Shop. A good way to start relationships with anyone switching from a PC.
