I picked this Ride-a-Matic up last weekend and done a little reading on it but I'm not sure the model or the year. There's no serial no. tag on it which really bums me out but oh well. So far what I've read, it looks to be the early model ('56) and I also read some that it may be a '58 but I can't really see it being a '58. I very well could be wrong too.

Any help is always greatly appreciated!!

I'm no help as to the age, but it sure looks like a nice tractor.  Is that original paint?

Do you know the Model of the Kohler?

From What I can tell it appears to be a 1957.

It's earlier than 1958. Looks good, they are cool little tractors.

I love mine!

Thanks everyone. The engine is a Kohlor K161 and the blue paint is optional !  Ha Ha. I think it is the original engine. I don't know if the paint on the whole tractor is original or not but it looks to be pretty good. If you guys think its a '57 then that gets me woundering if one of the other Ride-a-matics I have is really a '57. Or is it a '58 maybe. Thanks again for the help.    Parry

I'm wondering if that engine was swapped out.... The 57's used the K160

If you have pics of your other Ride-a-Matic We'd be glad to help ID it for you

I agree with the others.  ...It appears to be a 1957 model.

Your tractor appears to be a  Model 21HD-01 Super Ride-A-Matic with 6.6  hp Kohler.   .....The original engine was a K-160, as Brian mentioned.  .....The blue color of your engine was the color that replacement Kohler engines wore.  .....The original engine would have been green to match the tractor color.  ....The larger-diameter fiber reverse disc was mounted on the variable-speed pulley.

There was also a model 20HD built in 1956-1957, but these came equipped with a 3.6hp Kohler K-90 engine.  ....These tractors used a small-diameter reverse disc mounted on the engine pulley.

Thanks very much Bruce and Brain. I really thought that the K-161 was the original engine but must not be. Thats ok and I'm glad I learned a few more things. Is it a bad that its not the original engine?

Here is a few pics of the other Ride-a-matic i have. The engine is far from original, I do know that but it works good and peoples heads still when they see it !!

This one is a 1958 Model. The 1958's are the easiest to identify by the big Cast Iron Grill they used. This style Grill only lasted one year (1958)

This one should have the K161 so if you wanted to go all original you could put the 161 in your 57' in your 58' :D :poke:

Thanks Brian, not a bad idea. When I find a K160 I think maybe I will. And thanks for the help. This kinda gets me thinking about years of the the other 2 I have. Maybe I'm alittle off the year of them but I'm just going by what the PO had said.

001.JPG 003.JPG Yes I have 2 more. This  one the PO told me its a '62. The model no. is 231-01 serial no. 45768.

So you have more? 002.JPG

002.JPG   This one PO had said that its '59. On the I.D. tag it says: 231 01 / 232 01. Serial no. 42816. I have a front reel mower for this one and would love to find a front hitch for it so I can mount it and use it.  Parry
